Using your player - How to turn on NFC

NFC (Near Field Communication) is the technology that enables our playlist trinkets to function. Most modern phones have NFC functionality. When they are brought close to one of our players, your playlist will automatically populate on your phone. We embed our players with your playlist prior to shipment.

If you are tapping your phone against the disk of our player and the playlist is not populating, there is a good chance NFC is not enabled on your device. Enabling is easy, select your phone from the menu below and follow the onscreen instructions:

Note: if your iPhone is older than the iPhone 7 or your android phone was made prior to 2016, it may not have the NFC technology required to scan our players.

New iPhones

iPhones with models past the iPhone X will have NFC automatically enabled.

iPhone 11 and beyond:

  1. Turn on and unlock your phone.
  2. Tap the top center of your phone against your playlist trinket. It does not need to touch, close proximity will work.
  3. Your phone will vibrate and a notification should pop up. Tap this notification to proceed to your music streaming platform and playlist.

Older iPhones

iPhones prior to the iPhone XS need NFC to be enabled in the control center.

To do this:

  1. Open the control center by swiping down from the top of your screen (iPhone X or XR or XS) or swiping up from the bottom of your screen (iPhone SE, 8 or 7)
  2. Tap the NFC symbol to turn on NFC reading. The symbol is shown to the right and looks like a series of curved lines. If the symbol does not appear here, proceed to step 4.
  3. Your phone will vibrate and a notification should pop up. Tap this notification to proceed to your music streaming platform and playlist.
  4. If you don’t see the NFC button in your Control Center, you can add it by going into Settings, selecting Control Center, and selecting NFC Tag Reader from the More Controls list. This option is not available on the XS and later iPhones.

iPhones prior to the iPhone 7 do not have the NFC technology required to scan NFC tags and are unable to operate your playlist trinket.

Android Phones

Android phones share a similar process to turn on NFC. This will work for Samsung, Google Pixel, One Plus, and Motorola Phones.

NFC Connections needs to be turned on in the settings of your phone in order to use your playlist trinket.

  1. Navigate to your settings app.
  2. Find Connections > Turn on NFC. The connections menu may be in Connected devices > Connections > Turn on NFC
  3. Tap your phone against your playlist trinket. Your phone will vibrate and an app menu will appear for you to choose how to open your playlist.
